How the Michigan Sources Fit
Michigan counties set their own roster and booking-photo practices. Some have a named current-inmate portal, some show only selected news or custody information, and many have no verified public photo roster in the statewide research. A person may be booked in one county and housed through a regional arrangement elsewhere. The county directory helps identify the local site, but the public agency that made or holds a record remains the source of the official copy.
MDOC OTIS serves a different purpose. It covers specified groups under state prison or community supervision and keeps certain discharged profiles for a limited period. It is not a feed of people booked in county jails that day. Court case systems record filings and outcomes, not booking photographs. These distinctions shape the links and explanations provided here.
What the Reference Covers
The Michigan home page lays out the booking record, county roster variations, records-request path, court and custody systems, and limits of secondary indexes. The statewide pages also explain Michigan FOIA and the narrow significance of the Patterson decision. The county directory links to local sources so a reader can continue with the office that handled an arrest.
- Official county booking, roster, and records-request routes where they were verified.
- MDOC OTIS offender profiles and the kinds of people they cover.
- State and federal wanted, court, custody, and criminal-history sources.
- Michigan law, retention schedules, archives, and notable cases with dispositions.
A linked page may change after review. A county's lack of a verified public roster in the research means only that a public live feed was not confirmed; it does not mean the agency holds no booking record.
What This Service Cannot Do
Michigan Busted Mugshots is privately run and is not affiliated with a Michigan sheriff, jail, police department, court, the Michigan Department of Corrections, or any other government office. It does not create or store official booking records. It cannot confirm whether a person is in custody, release someone, arrange a transfer, post bond, schedule a visit, or provide legal advice.
- Only the agency holding custody can confirm current custody or release.
- Only a record custodian can provide its official booking file or photograph.
- Only the court docket or clerk can confirm the case's official disposition.
- Phone numbers, fees, portal behavior, and office policies can change.
Use a link as a starting point. Confirm identity, custody, charges, and case outcomes with the official office that holds the record.
Search Partner Disclosure
Some search boxes on the site are operated by outside providers. Those providers set their own prices, search methods, and results. If a visitor chooses a paid partner tool through a referral link, Michigan Busted Mugshots may receive a referral fee. That fee helps support the service, but it does not give the site control over the provider's records, billing, or decisions.
